Ayden Mathew Cook

Ayden Mathew Cook was born on Dec.11, 2004. He was our first child and my husband and I were extremely excited. Ayden seemed perfectly healthy and we enjoyed being a family. On Jan.8, 2005 all that changed.

We were out getting a few things at the store and after we got back in the car, I noticed that something was wrong with Adyen. My husband rushed to the hospital were we watched the doctors frantically try to help our precious baby. At first we thought that he was having trouble with his lungs, but the doctors soon discovered that it was his heart.

They worked with him for about 3 1/2 hours and even had a helicopter waiting to transfer him to Riley Children's Hospital, but his poor little heart was just too weak.We found out later that he had a congenital heart defect that went undetected until that day. The doctor called us into the room at 4 p.m. to tell us that there was nothing else they could do for him and that he had passed away. That was truly the worst moment of our lives.

We are very grateful for the 28 wonderful days that God allowed us to have with him and we will cherish those memories forever. We love him and miss him very much. He is our special little angel.

A Mother's Prayer

I can't imagine a death so young.
All he'll miss, all the fun.
No more football, not one more game
All the school years that never came.
Sadness overwhelms my heart,
To lose a son, you lose a part.
But their is joy on the other side,
Jesus' arms are opened wide.
Thankful I will ever be,
That Jesus shared him awhile with me.
There is so much peace and a source of joy,
Knowing that Jesus is taking care of my BOY.
